IPPT Gold & Silver Award 2026: Full Incentives & Cash Rewards Guide
Every NSman and NSF who has ever pushed through a rough 2.4km run knows the thought in the back of their mind: if I hit Gold, I get $500. That thought has probably saved more than a few personal best times.
But beyond the number, a lot of servicemen are fuzzy on the details — how exactly is the money paid, when does it come, and what else does Gold get you besides cash?
This page covers everything about the IPPT Gold and Silver award in 2026.
IPPT Award Tiers — At a Glance
| Score | Award | Cash Incentive |
|---|---|---|
| 85 – 100 points | Gold | $500 |
| 75 – 84 points | Silver | $300 |
| 51 – 74 points | Pass | $0 |
| Below 51 points | Fail | Remedial Training |
IPPT Gold Award — What Is It?
The IPPT Gold award is earned by scoring 85 points or more out of 100 on the Individual Physical Proficiency Test. It is the highest achievement tier in the IPPT system.
Cash incentive: $500, paid via e-payment to your registered PayNow/bank account.
The $500 has remained unchanged since the 2015 reform. There were no changes to award amounts between 2025 and 2026.
What Does IPPT Gold Actually Mean for Your NSman Career?
Beyond the $500, Gold achievement carries a practical benefit many servicemen overlook: ICT day reduction.
NSmen who achieve Gold may be entitled to a reduction in their In-Camp Training (ICT) obligations. This means fewer days called up for reservist training in the affected cycle. The exact number of days reduced depends on current MINDEF policy and your service branch — check your NS Portal profile or speak to your unit's S1 for the latest figures.
For a serviceman who values their leave days, the ICT reduction alone can make Gold worth more than the $500.
IPPT Silver Award — What Is It?
Silver is earned by scoring 75 to 84 points. It is the second award tier, carrying a $300 cash incentive.
Silver is a realistic target for most moderately fit NSmen. If you maintain basic fitness year-round and do a few dedicated IPPT preparation sessions before your window, Silver is achievable across most age bands.
The Long-Term Silver Maths
If you reliably achieve Silver every year for a 10-year NS career, that is $3,000 in total incentive payments. Combined with the time savings from any associated ICT benefits, it is a genuinely meaningful financial return on your fitness investment.

How Is the IPPT Cash Incentive Paid?
The cash incentive is disbursed automatically after your IPPT result is processed. You do not need to manually claim it. The payment is made to your registered bank account or PayNow number via the NS Portal profile.
Timeline: Payment typically arrives within a few weeks of your IPPT attempt. If you do not receive your payment within one month of your Gold or Silver result, contact your unit's S1 or raise an enquiry via the NS Portal.
Who Is Eligible for the IPPT Cash Award?
- All NSmen (operationally ready NSmen) who achieve Gold or Silver within their IPPT window
- Full-time NSFs who achieve Gold or Silver during official IPPT tests
- Regular servicemen (SAF, SPF, SCDF) under applicable incentive schemes
Pre-enlistees who take the CMPB pre-enlistee IPPT are eligible for NS service length reduction (not the standard $500/$300 incentive). See our Pre-Enlistee IPPT page for details.
Can You Earn the Award Multiple Times in One Window?
No. The cash incentive is awarded once per IPPT window, not per attempt. If you take multiple IPPT attempts within your window and achieve Gold on a later attempt after a Silver on an earlier one, the higher award applies — but you receive it once.
IPPT Gold Benefits Beyond Cash
- ICT Day Reduction — Fewer reservist training days called up
- Personal Achievement — Gold is genuinely competitive; fewer than 30% of NSmen achieve it in any given cycle
- Fitness Benchmark — Consistent Gold performance indicates a level of fitness that has real health and career implications for servicemen in physically demanding roles
How to Train for IPPT Gold
Hitting 85 points requires strong performance across all three stations. Since the 2.4km run is worth 50 points, your run fitness is the single biggest lever. For a structured training approach, visit our 8-Week IPPT Training Plan.
